Colder Products Co., a leading provider of quick disconnect couplings, now offers a subminiature coupling incorporating radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. The new IdentiQuik SMC coupling provides a high-quality, reliable alternative to luer-type connectors that allows users to electronically verify connection accuracy.
Colders IdentiQuik connections integrate RFID capability into coupling bodies or inserts. Before the final connection is made, the IdentiQuik coupling halves automatically exchange product data. This enables equipment to electronically identify the device type or connected media and its characteristics. The new connections are ideal for use with critical small air or fluid lines. Applications include blood pressure cuffs, surgical equipment, blood analyzers, tube sets, and analytical instrumentation.
The new SMC addresses the need for a reliable, easy-to-use connection for medical applications while enabling users to avoid liability issues that can arise from critical misconnections, says Jim Brown, medical business unit manager, Colder Products Co. The incorporation of RFID further assures that equipment is set up correctly and all lines are accurately connected.
Made from acetal and polypropylene, the SMC is available in 1/16", 1/8", and 3mm hose barb sizes. The IdentiQuik SMC couplings with RFID capability are offered as in-line bodies and inserts, with valved or non-valved options, and they feature a secure, twist-to-connect design.
Operating pressures range from vacuum to 100 psi and operating temperatures range from -40°F to 180°F (-40°C to 82°C) for acetal and 32°F to 180°F (0°C to 82°C) for polypropylene.
